Easy Pickled Cabbage

Ingredients
- 1 medium green cabbage
- 1 liter pre-boiled, cooled water (610 ml for 5% vinegar)
- 2 Tbsp salt
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp vinegar essence (70%) (420 ml for 5% vinegar)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 dry bay leaves
- 6 peppercorns
- 3 cloves garlic
